Hypnotherapy. Many Santa Clarita residents associate hypnosis with the scenes from cartoon shows with a shiny swaying watch putting victims into trances. In reality, hypnotherapy is a form of therapy which can help people overcome many challenges. Four of the biggest surprises of hypnotherapy are its ability to help with ADHD, weight loss, childbirth, and anxiety. Although hypnosis can be used therapeutically, there are four main things in which specialists can help treat patients.
Surprise #1: ADHD
Owner of Hypnosis With Abi, Abi Caruthers, has experienced tremendous results treating ADHD (also known as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
According to Abi, ADHD, “prevents information from getting through [neural pathways], there is a disorganization of information in the brain. So what hypnosis can do is widen the neural pathways to increase the more positive behavior.”
Through the treatment of hypnosis, both children and adults will be more susceptible to positive behavior and to be more attentive.
Surprise #2: Weight Loss
Many people worry about their weight and desire to lose weight. Hypnotherapy creates “a more heightened state of awareness to put the critical area part of your mind to sleep to allow access to your subconscious to help create positive changes in your life, ” according to Abi Caruthers.
Losing weight can be an extremely hard challenge to overcome and a common occurrence is people’s minds resisting the change. Through the use of hypnotherapy, the subconscious state is accessed to block out the negative thoughts.
Surprise #3: Childbirth
A common fear among expectant mothers is childbirth. Hypnosis naturally creates anesthesia, which helps with the extreme pain associated with childbirth. Abi Caruthers, stated, “scientists have agreed that ninety-five to ninety-nine percent of our daily lives are run by our subconscious and that our subconscious represents eighty-eight percent of our total mind power.” When this subconscious state is accessed these thoughts will be more powerful than the thoughts from your conscious state.
Surprise #4: Anxiety
Many face the troubles of anxiety, but through the use of hypnotherapy, patients can be treated to lessen this anxiety.
A common occurrence among people debating to try hypnosis is that “a lot of people are really sensitive to someone delving into their subconscious because they do not know what you are going to find,” according to Abi Caruthers.
These worries may cause even more anxiety, but Abi also notes that people are also “in a conscious state the entire time, you cannot be made to do anything that you do not want to do and you cannot be forced to share some information that you do not want to share.” By accessing this state of mind, the other parts are not shut off.
Hypnosis is used to treat many fears and resistances, such as ADHD, weight loss, childbirth, and anxiety.
