SCV Pregnancy Center officials are now offering their patients the opportunity to get help in real time through online webinar services, officials announced Monday.

The program is being introduced because new moms may have difficulty leaving the house to get to the clinic, and their postpartum doula may not always be available to come their home, according to Angela Bennett, the center’s president/CEO.
“There’s going to be days they can’t get out (of the house), and it’s not really conducive for us to be there,” Bennett said. “But we can dial in and they just open up their laptop and have a conversation with their doula.”

Doula services are typically available to give periodic support for the first two months after childbirth, assisting new parents with bonding and learning to care for their new baby, according to Bennett.
Other webinar services expected to be available at the SCV Pregnancy Center include trainings and educational services.
In addition, those who can make it into the center can participate in group education services where they can not only learn, but have the opportunity to support each other.
“Because we now have a fabulous conference room, our conference room now allows us to see groups of patients, where we weren’t able to see groups before,” Bennett said, referring to the SCV Pregnancy Center’s recent move to a brand new facility.
In order to fund these programs and other regular services at the SCV Pregnancy Center — including free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds — center officials hold an annual fundraising “Walk for Life,” set to take place this year on Sept. 29 at Crossroads Community Church.
“We wanted to make it so that anybody and everybody can participate. It’s just a two-mile walk — it’s easy,” Bennett said. “And the surprise part of that is that on the way back, they’ll be able to take an optional tour through the new clinic. We’ve very excited about that.”
