Permanent Cosmetics or Permanent Make- Up is the revolutionary method of depositing hypoallergenic mineral pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. All procedures should be performed using computerized, state of the art machines that provide less trauma and excellent results. It is also very important that your technician be well trained by board- certified instructors with either the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) or The American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM).
The process of Micropigmentation has been used and endorsed by Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons for years. They embrace these procedures as non-surgical “cures” for many skin issues. The objective of Permanent Make -Up is to elevate self-esteem, self-confidence, allow for a more active lifestyle, to save time and to provide more personal freedom. Both men and women can realize positive results to treat some conditions such as scar camouflage, allergies to cosmetics, contact lens sensitivities, visual impairments, alopecia, unsteady hands and problems before and after chemotherapy.
Some commonly asked questions are:
WHAT IF I WANT TO CHANGE MY MAKE- UP? The natural look of permanent make -up allows you to apply normal cosmetics over it for color variety. However, without any applied make –up you are always naturally enhanced.
IS IT PAINFUL? A topical anesthetic is applied prior to and if needed, during each procedure to numb the epidermis and help ease any discomfort. Every client is different and some will experience a vibrating or mild scratching sensation or nothing at all.
HOW SAFE IS IT? Your technician must practice strict hygene and sterilization procedures that conform to OSHA standards and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.
IS IT THE SAME AS A TATTOO? Yes, both are permanent. Some clients need to be “touched up” within 2-6 years. Everyone is different. Results will depend on age, skin tone, over exposure to the sun, body chemistry and the degree of care taken to maintain the procedure.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PERIOD? Some clients may experience slight swelling or bruising that is not usually noticeable. Most can return to daily activities right away.
WHAT COLORS SHOULD I CHOOSE? There is a right color for everyone. The technician will take into consideration your natural skin, hair and eye color and make recommendations. A soft, natural color is always preferred.
