A runner in the Santa Clarita Marathon collapsed near Mile 7 on the course and was taken to the hospital for treatment of what appeared to be full cardiac arrest. The man had been competing in the half-marathon portion of the race.
The man, who was reportedly in his early 60s, collapsed near the intersection of Decoro Drive and Copper Hill Road, prompting medical personnel to summon paramedics. Fire department officials said the call came in at 8:20 a.m. for an injury, then was reported as a full arrest.

A nurse was on scene with the patient, who was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
