“In reference to the Santa Clarita Valley, Help the Children aims to help the residents of Santa Clarita that are struggling,” said Mike Santomauro, a representative of the Help the Children organization.
Help the Children not only aids families in need and works with local charities in the Santa Clarita Valley, but they help other families and charities around the world.
“Our purpose is to help the struggling children and their families,” he said. “We offer food, clothing, personal hygiene and limited job to help get back on feet and be self supporting.”
This organization lets families shop and choose their own food and necessities. This organization is able to provide this service through partnering with more than 10 local charities.
“We opened in 2002 and have served over 26,000 families since,” Santomauro said. “We do this with no government support, strictly by donations and grants while operating on a 1 percent overhead.”
The Help the Children organization is the largest independent charity in California and is ranked as seventh on the “Top Charities” list in the United States.
“We really stress that we don’t care who sets foot in a Help the Children building,” he said. “Everyone in our facility is treated with dignity, respect and kindness.”
