The array of ladies’ hats was a highlight of Prince William’s recent wedding, and inspired this year’s fundraiser for the Santa Clarita chapter of the Heritage Reflections Questers.
The non-profit group will stage a royal hat contest at William S. Hart Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, to benefit the continued preservation and restoration of historical Heritage Junction in Newhall, and the Heritage Junction education tours.
Local businesses and non-profit groups are invited to create “The Hat You Would Have Worn To The Royal Wedding” that will be judged by an elite panel of fashion industry professionals.

The entry fee is $25. There will also be a “People’s Choice” vote 50-50 contest, with 50 percent of the proceeds going to Heritage Reflections.
The event will include a general store, baked goods and novelties, food and beverages, antique fabrics, and antique hats from the collection of Ruby Jenkins Kellog (some of the hats will be available for auction).
Free to the public, the event will be held at the William S. Hart Hall in Hart Park, 24151 Newhall Ave., Newhall 91321.
For more information, or to enter the hat contest, call Libby Hinze, Heritage Reflections chapter president, at 661-254-7072.
