A man in a diabetic emergency went on a wild ride this morning in Saugus.
Early reports of a drunk driver near the intersection of Copperhill and Seco Canyon Road who had hit a vehicle and fled the scene brought deputies running.
Sheriff’s tracked down the individual who led them on a brief pursuit, which ended in his vehicle crashing into a fire hydrant and him being detained.
Deputies then realized that the man was not drunk, but instead had not taken his insulin and diabetic medication, causing him to become delirious.
He was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital and treated.
No injuries were reported and the man was not arrested, but Sheriff’s are submitting the case to the District Attorney.
