The National Weather Service of Los Angeles and Oxnard issued a high wind warning on Monday, cautioning residents of Los Angeles and Ventura counties of gusts that could reach 65 miles per hour.

The warning will remain in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday for the Santa Clarita Valley and Acton.

The NWS warned residents that high winds could endanger property.

“A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 MPH or gusts of 58 MPH or more can lead to property damage,” according to the website.

Frost and hard freeze conditions are also expected in Southwestern California, specifically the central coast and interior valley areas.

Motorists and pedestrians should proceed carefully during icy conditions, to prevent slipping or losing control of a vehicle.

High-profile vehicles should also exercise caution in high winds.

“Gusty winds may make driving hazardous especially for drivers of high profile vehicles,” the warning said. “Roadways that will be affected by the winds include the 5 freeway and highway 14.”
