Hoefflin Looks to Provide Tutoring To Cancer Patients

StudentNest.com and the Michael Hoefflin Foundation have announced a partnership to provide tutoring services to children suffering from pediatric cancer.
[view:node_ad=5]The Michael Hoefflin Foundation has teamed up with Fresno-based StudentNest.com to provide mathematics tutoring services for children who are the victims of pediatric cancer.  The program provides the children with direct, one-on-one assistance with credentialed teachers through an in-home, online program.

Many of these children fall behind in their schoolwork during hospitalizations or treatment.  However, leaving home to attend tutoring sessions can be problematic for children whose immune systems are often compromised by the very treatments designed to save their lives, so the StudentNest.com program is ideally suited to meet their needs.

This tutoring program is being provided by a partnership between StudentNest.com and the Michael Hoefflin Foundation, so all services are free to the families in the hopes that schoolwork is the least of their worries during this stressful time.  “We hope to provide these families with the tools to make their lives easier during a time that most of us cannot even imagine.” said Scott Schauer, Executive Director of the Michael Hoefflin Foundation. “The StudentNest.com program helps these children keep up with their school-mates and return to school at their appropriate grade level. This is our goal: to send these children back to their childhoods – happy, healthy and whole.”

Chander and Monika Joshi, President and Vice President of StudentNest.com, created the technology allowing tutors and students to talk to each other “live” over the internet while drawing or writing on the computer screen.  “We are so pleased to be able to help the children of the Michael Hoefflin Foundation,” stated Chander Joshi.  “Children are our first priority at StudentNest.com and we are happy to be able to help in this way.”  StudentNest.com offers high-quality tutoring nationally as well as providing remote meeting capabilities for business and education clients.  Please visit www.studentnest.com for more details.

The Michael Hoefflin Foundation is a public non-profit 501(c) (3) foundation that provides financial and emotional support to children and families suffering from pediatric cancer in the Santa Clarita and surrounding valleys.  The Michael Hoefflin Foundation also strives to educate the public and provide grant funding for innovative research to accelerate progress in the fight against these cancers.  For more information, please contact the Michael Hoefflin Foundation at (661) 250-4100 or visit the website at www.mhf.org.
