In honor of the U.S. troops, “Hogs & Horses” will send a special “shout out” to injured troops by holding its 3rd annual motorcycle and horseback ride/poker run on Saturday May 1. Sign-up will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Vincent Hill Station, 553 W. Sierra Hwy., Acton.
“We want to let them know we are rooting for them,” said John Reel, event organizer.
The event called “Hogs & Horses – Ride For Our Troops” was originally organized when Reel and his friend, Johnny “Irish” Conway, wanted to find a way to raise funds to support both the deployed and wounded troops.
That idea quickly developed into the Hogs & Horses ride with friends eagerly joining in to help co-organize and participate in the event. The event organizers are inviting both motorcycle riders and horseback riders throughout the West to join them in showing the troops that they support them.
To participate in the event, submit a tax-deductible donation along with a completed application to Hogs & Horses on or before the date of the event. Riders, passengers and non-riding participants are strongly encouraged to register in advance.
Auctions, raffles, vendors, lunch, live entertainment and more will be provided for registered participants. The organizers are also looking for individual and corporate sponsors and additional vendors to help make their event a success.
The event will benefit deployed and wounded troops through a national non-profit organization known as The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. This organization is a leader in supporting the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families.
Funds from this year’s Hogs & Horses event will be directed towards amputee patient care programs.
The Intrepid Foundation has provided millions of dollars in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. These efforts are funded entirely with donations from the public, and hundreds of thousands of individuals have contributed to the Fund.
One hundred percent of the contributions raised by The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund go towards these programs; all administrative expenses are underwritten by the fund’s trustees.
The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a 501(c) nonprofit organization, is proud to have received an A+ rating by The American Institute of Philanthropy for the past two years.
