Help the Children is an international nonprofit based in the Santa Clarita Valley, helping families worldwide and locally by “providing food, clothing, personal care items and medical supplies without regard to political affiliation, religious belief, or ethnic identity,” according to their website.

“We are so excited and grateful to be partnering with Jersey Mike’s here in Santa Clarita,” said Mike Santomauro, director of Help the Children. “Their commitment to bettering our community is inspiring, and their contributions to our efforts here at Help The Children with the Mini-Mike’s Baby Drive and their weekly donations of subs for our clients has been such a blessing.”

On Saturday, Santa Claus will visit Jersey Mike’s on Golden Valley Road from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. With a donation, customers can get a free picture with Santa. Prizes will also be handed out at the event.

Amy Sandberg, Jersey Mike’s marketing director in Santa Clarita said that Jersey Mike’s has been partnering with Help the Children for about a month and that they’re “committed to helping for a long time.”

She said that the idea for a baby clothing drive came after Jersey Mike’s staff toured Help the Children’s warehouse.

“The need for baby items was so great, and the stories of children and their moms–they have four diapers to last a week. (Diapers are) definitely a limited good,” Sandberg said.

So far, the response from the community to help local families has been positive.

“Their stories and their need are so great and so moving that we wanted to do something over the holidays that would do great things for our community and those who are in need,” Sandberg said.
