Expected to be present at the event are Barger, who represents the fifth district on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors; Bobby Cagle, director of the Department of Children and Family Services; and a number of L.A. County Firefighters and Explorers, who will be distributing the gifts.

“This will be Barger’s first year hosting the event; however, this event has been going on for the last 20 years,” said Tony Bell, spokesperson for Barger’s office.

The foster youth and their caregivers are invited to attend from all over Los Angeles County, according to Bell.

“Children under the age of 13 will normally get anything from Legos, games, educational materials, etc.,” he said. “The older youth will typically get gift cards.”

All of the gifts that are given away are from the Spark of Love Toy Drive and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, according to a press release.

After the children take pictures with Santa and receive their gifts, the foster youth and their caregivers will be able to enjoy thrill rides in the park, officials said.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
