[view:node_ad=5]Following Friday afternoon’s Metrolink train disaster, Providence
Holy Cross Medical
Center has been treating several
wounded people.
The accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, and it involved a Metrolink
commuter train crashing headfirst into a freight train.
Current updates indicate that at least 18 people have been
confirmed dead, while well over 100 are injured.
Metrolink officials have indicated that the commuter train engineer failed to stop for the frieght train.
14 of the injured passengers were taken to Providence Holy
Cross. Of those, 7 patients are stable, 1 is in serious condition, and 5 are in
critical condition.
A blood drive was planned for Providence Holy Cross Saturday
afternoon to help the victims.
The drive will be held today, Sept.13th from 10:30 a.m. to 2
p.m. at Providence Holy
Cross Medical Center,
15031 Rinaldi St. Mission
Hills, 91345.
Donors must be at least 17 years old, in good health and a

This is the inaugural run of a new Bloodmobile delivered
last week to Providence. It has
double the capacity of its predecessors to help improve efficiency for donors.
