“The original vision of it was to give the valley, that was undeveloped 29 years ago, a place to come to one location to meet and see the vendors in our community because we didn’t have a mall,” said Terri Crain, chamber CEO.
There were about 100 Santa Clarita Valley local businesses both store front and home-based as well as most of the Chamber members, she said.
“Fast forward to today, this is a great opportunity to vendors to kind of get out, meet the people, see the businesses and get to know people in the community,” Crain said.
Not only were there businesses, but the event had a farmers market and carnival rides.
“Our goal was to bring a little over 5,000 people and it seems like there is a pretty steady stream of people coming through the whole event, all the way down to the farmers market at the end,” Crain said “The store owners all along main street are pretty happy because people are going into their stores.”
Event sponsors included The City of Santa Clarita, Choppe’ Advertising Group, The Magazine of Santa Clarita, SCVTV, KHTS, Canyon Country Gazette, Canyon Country Living, The Santa Clarita Valley Business Journal, US Bank, The SCVEDC, Our Valleys Magazine and It’s A Geek.
“We brought the event to Old Town Newhall, to Main Street because we knew that this is a really cool space with cool shops and boutiques,” Crain said. “We wanted to bring the community not only for them to meet Chamber members but also to see what a cool place this is.”
