“We transported people to the shelter we own in Sylmar,” Laurel Davis told KTHS. “A lot of people don’t know we (the Santa Clarita Community Development Corporation) run that one too. We’ll be happy to take anyone who wants to go if we’re not open here.”
The opening is delayed by safety setbacks and some cosmetic fixes the city requested.
“The ADA ramps need to be replaced and the part we needed for the crash bar on the emergency door got sent back to FedEx because the driver couldn’t find the address,” Davis said. “We’re also working on new fireproof siding. The carpeting, which is more cosmetic, wasn’t delivered on time, but should be here now.”
