28 counts dropped in plea bargain.
A 57-year-old Pearblossom woman accused of abusing horses and other animals pleaded no contest today to two felony counts of animal cruelty.
Janis Ridgeway Damiani was sentenced to two years and eight months in state prison by Superior Court Judge Richard E. Naranjo on Monday.
Damiani was charged with 30 counts of animal cruelty on June 18 after Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control officers removed more than 100 horses from her property. As part of a plea negotiation, the remaining 28 counts were dismissed.
