Hospital Employees Contribute to Tsunami Relief

Henry Mayo employees and the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital have contributed close to $12,000 to help aid victims devastated in the South-East Asia Tsunami that struck the region Dec. 26 – killing at least 250,000 people and displacing millions more.

The funds will be handed over to the American Red Cross who will help provide vital services to those who were most effected in the disaster region.

“The contributions made by our employees will help the victims with their most crucial needs of today and provide hope and relief for tomorrow,” said Mark Puleo, Chief Human Resources Officer at Henry Mayo and a member of the local American Red Cross Advisory Board.

All the contributions made by employees were matched by the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. “We wanted to allow the hospital employees to make a worthwhile contribution,” said Diana Vose, president of the Health Foundation. “We want to support the hospital employees in their show of compassion for something that has affected all of us and the entire world.”

The tsunami that struck on December 26 was triggered by the 9.0 Sumatra Earthquake triggered when two tectonic plates collided with each other in the Indian Ocean.
