khts_crimeTwo men arrested in connection with early morning burglaries.

Two men are behind bars after several Saugus area residents found their homes had been entered while they were sleeping and personal property stolen.

Deputies responded to the 28600 block of Rock Canyon Drive, Saugus, to reports that a resident was awoken by a man who was entering into his bedroom through a sliding glass door.

The suspect, later identified as Sean Thompson, 20, of Canyon Country quickly left the location after being confronted by the homeowner.

When deputies arrived, the homeowner pointed them in the direction of another nearby house where it was believed the suspect had gone.

Deputies found the front door and garage open on the second house and arrested Thomson in connection with the initial burglary call.

Later the same morning, deputies responded to three other reports of residential burglaries in the same area.

The three residents called when they awoke and found that someone had entered their residence during the night and taken purses, car keys, wallets, cell phones, money, credit cards, and other items from their kitchen or dining room areas.

The suspects had apparently also used the car keys they had taken to enter several parked vehicles.

Residents in the area recovered some of the stolen property in nearby trash cans and bushes prior to the deputies arrival.

After learning of the additional burglaries, deputies returned to the initial suspect location in the 28600 block of Rock Canyon Drive where they reportedly recovered more of the stolen property and arrested a second suspect, Troy Hill, 18, of Saugus.

Both suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.  Thompson faces potential felony charges of Residential Burglary, and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail He is due to appear in court tomorrow.

Hill faces potential felony charges of Receiving Stolen Property, and is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail and is also due in court tomorrow.

The investigation is ongoing, but detectives believe the suspects may be responsible for all four reported incidents of “Hot Prowl” residential burglaries and thefts from vehicles that occurred in the area.
