Sheriff’s deputies from the Parks Bureau discovered human remains Thursday in the Castaic residence of suspected drug dealer Gary Powell.

While searching the location, deputies also found human remains inside the residence as well as ammunition. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and took possession of the remains. It was not revealed whether the skull was that of a man or woman.

Powell, who also goes by the nickname “Grave Digger,” was previously arrested in December for possession of approximately one pound of methamphetamine and over $8,000 in cash.

Deputies were responding to a follow-up warrant on Thursday.

In both instances, neighbors had informed deputies of suspicious drug activity in Powell’s Castaic home.

Powell was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) for sale and felon in possession of ammunition.

He was booked at the Inmate Reception Center and is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
