I-5 Suffers Through Two Incidents

Brush fire and oil spill snarled traffic for hours

[view:node_ad=5] Two major traffic hazards brought traffic to a crawl on the I-5 freeway near Calgrove Blvd this afternoon.

A large truck caught fire on the Southbound I-5 at about 2:15 this afternoon and lit surrounding brush. That brush fire was put out by fire crews, and it reached 1 acre in size. All southbound lanes have been re-opened.

Also, a SigAlert was issued for the I-5 northbound at Calgrove Blvd after a crash resulted in an oil spill over the number 2, 3 and 4 lanes.

As the cleanup progressed, traffic began to recover. Reports as late as 3:00pm still showed slowing on the freeway.
