Work at Hasley Canyon interchange continues.

Starting at midnight tonight, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will kick off a new construction project at the I-5/Hasley Canyon Road interchange in the Santa Clarita Valley. The project will result in the full closure of the I-5 in alternating directions overnight.

All closures will take place from 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. The northbound lanes will be fully closed Monday night/Tuesday morning and Thursday night/Friday morning.

Northbound I-5 traffic will be diverted at Hwy 126 west and directed to continue south on Commerce Center Drive; east on Henry Mayo Drive; and north on The Old Road to the northbound I-5 on-ramp at Lake Hughes Road.

The southbound lanes will be closed between 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and Wednesday night/Thursday morning.

Southbound I-5 traffic will be forced to exit at Lake Hughes Road off-ramp, continue south on The Old Road to the southbound Route 5 on-ramp just north of Rye Canyon.

In addition to the overnight closures, The Hasley Canyon northbound off-ramp will be closed on Tuesday, March 2, at midnight and will remain closed for a period of one week to allow for reconstruction of the ramp. Message boards will be posted to guide motorists through the detours. California Highway Patrol officers will also be at the site to assist motorists further if necessary.

So far, related construction projects in the area have reshaped the Hasley Canyon Road interchange, replacing a bridge over the I-5, building new on and off ramps, and adding 2 circular traffic “round-a-bouts.”
