This month marks the end of the first 100 working days for the project.
Currently, the pace of the construction activity is ahead of the timeline initially scheduled for Phase 2.
The City is coordinating with various affected utility companies to come in prior to commencing construction activities for various utility relocation and removal on Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road. Coordination with Caltrans and the County for utility construction permits is on-going.
The general contractor, Security Paving Construction, is continuing the construction of the rectangular shaped storm drain box, which is located west of The Old Road. Construction is continuing on the south side of Magic Mountain Parkway and completion is anticipated early April. This work is necessary in order to realign The Old Road. The construction of the storm drain box is approximately 70 percent complete.
Construction of the new water lines on Magic Mountain Parkway west of The Old Road by Valencia Water is complete. Due to major design revisions and coordination with the various agencies in obtaining construction permits, both AT&T and Castaic Lake Water Agency underground utility work on Magic Mountain Parkway has been delayed until further notice.
Currently, we are working on Phase 2 of the 11 phases for these improvements. The anticipated completion of this phase is fall 2007. During this phase, existing ramps, at least one lane, and local roadways (Magic Mountain Parkway and The Old Road) will be open for vehicular traffic.
Please check the City of Santa Clarita's website at www.santa-clarita.com or the project hotline (661) 290-2297, for any extended major lane closures, detours, or news associated with this project.
Thank you for your continued patience and support!
