The identity of a man who was found dead at the bottom of a Newhall pool Saturday has been released by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Julio Negron, 26, was discovered in a pool in Apple Park Condos, just off of Lyons Avenue in Newhall.

First responders received the initial call to the complex around 11:38 a.m.

“We got out there and it was a DOA,” said Supervising Fire Dispatcher Melanie Flores with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, referring to a term for patients who are dead by the time paramedics arrive.

After a preliminary investigation, officials said that the suspected cause of death is drowning.

The official cause of death is still to be determined, pending an autopsy by medical examiners later this week, according to Sarah Ardalani, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.
