Inmate Who Died At Pitchess Detention Center Wednesday Identified

An inmate who died in custody at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic Wednesday has been identified by Los Angeles County Coroner’s officials.

Herman Nash, 47, died at the center late Wednesday afternoon, but the cause of death remains unknown, according to Lt. Smith at the Coroner’s office.

“An autopsy is pending,” Smith said.

Homicide Bureau detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the center just before 5 p.m. Wednesday to investigate the inmate’s death.
