Jersey Mike’s locations on Copper Hill Drive in Valencia and Stevenson Ranch are holding a fundraiser for the Hartman’s on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Twenty percent of all proceeds will go to support the family.
Cole Hartman’s father found him partially submerged in a top-loading washing machine full of water, on Wednesday, July 31. When he pulled the boy from the machine, he was unresponsive.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the scene after the father called 911. They administered CPR until Fire Department personnel arrived and transported him to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
The case is now being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau.
“Once the child passed away the investigative responsibility when to the Homicide Bureau,” said Sgt. Brian Hudson of the Special Victims Bureau.
Hudson said that the incident “appeared to be a tragic home accident,” but that no conclusion has been made.
Those who would like to participate in the fundraiser can print out a copy of the flyer on the KHTS Facebook page and bring it with them to Jersey Mike’s.
