“Jews Sing The Blues,” A Musical Selichot Service

"Jews Sing the Blues" concert will rock local Congregation.

[view:node_ad=5] Join Congregation Beth Shalom (CBS) on Saturday, September 20 in combining the spirit of the Days of Awe with the feel of the Blues.

The CBS Blues Band will join Rabbi Ira Rosenfeld and Cantor Beth Wasserman Rosenfeld in a special and unique celebration of life. The program will also include special readings and recitations by CBS congregants and guests.

Selichot translates to “apologies,” and represents a commemoration of the passing Jewish year as The High Holy Days; the Ten Days of Awe from Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year's),  and Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) approaches.

“Blues music represents the bittersweet celebration of life as well as the regrets for things that we have or haven’t done,” Rabbi Ira Rosenfeld said. “By combining Selichot with the Blues, we hope to engage and inspire everyone with the meaning of the High Holiday season and the spirit of the Blues.”

The “Jews Sing the Blues” concert will begin at 8:00 pm. For more information about tickets to Congregation Beth Shalom’s High Holy Days services, the holiday service schedule, locations, or programs for children of all ages, call Mary Smith at(661) 254-2411, or visit the CBS website at www.cbs-scv.org.
