Jim Tindell Coming Home

After months of recovery for burns, hero is finally headed home.

[view:node_ad=5]Friday will be much more then the end of a week for Jim Tindell; it will be the end of a turbulent recovery away from his home.

Tindell was badly burned during October’s Buckweed fire. He lived with his family on the property of Heads Up Therapy on Horseback, where they worked with disabled children.

The property is situated up Bouquet Canyon Road, and was directly hit by the Buckweed fire. In the precious minutes after Jim first saw the flames, he packed up his family and sent them away. He then went to work getting all of the non-profit organization’s horses into a sand practice arena where they would have the greatest chance of survival.

When the flames became too much, Tindell made a run for it, battling through fierce winds and rolling flames which burned his hands and his face severely. To read the full story of that day, click here.

Since that fateful day, Heads Up therapy on Horseback has been counting their blessings. Thanks to Jim’s efforts, and that of other volunteers, every horse survived. Jim, while badly injured would also survive, although he has spent the days since the fire recovering at the Grossman Burn Center.

Friday though, that all changes. After months at the Grossman Burn Center, and a few weeks in a rehabilitation program, Jim Tindell will be coming home to Santa Clarita.

His first order of business, he told KHTS, was to get Heads Up back in operation, which the organization hopes will happen this spring.

That will coincide directly with how well their upcoming fundraiser does. It is a Bowl-A-Thon, planned for Saturday, February 16th at Santa Clarita Lanes. Teams, individual bowlers and sponsors are still needed for this event, and if you are interested, click here to find out more.
