The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center will host a job fair May 27, which comes at a perfect time considering the Bureau of Labor Statistics is reporting continued double-digit unemployment in California for the month of April.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor statistics released today, Nevada has the highest unemployment rate at 12.5 percent. California is second at 11.9 percent. Those figures are significantly higher than the national unemployment rate of 9.0 percent. In March, California measured in at 12.0 percent.
Despite the slight downtick in jobless numbers the figures show there are many people out of work.

With more than 10 employers and over 100 jobs, the Santa Clarita WorkSource Center Job Fair is allowing applicants and local businesses the opportunity to interact in a centralized location and professional environment.
Confirmed employers include Six Flags, FoilFlex Products, ACN Inc., Hospitality Staffing Solution, Sears Marketing Center, Aerotek, Sonic Electronics, the United State Marine Corp and the Art Institute of California.
“Local job seekers face a highly competitive job market, which often makes it difficult to set up meetings in person with employers,” said Mayor Marsha McLean.
“The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center’s Job Fair helps connect those who need work directly with employers who are actively looking for new staff.”
The WorkSource Center says jobseekers should arrive between 10 a.m and 1 p.m. Friday May 27, come dressed to impress, have multiple copies of their resume available and be prepared for on-site interviews.
The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center is located in the College of the Canyons University Center at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Suite 250.
Employers looking to participate in the Job Fair are asked to contact the WorkSource Center at (661) 799-WORK (9675) to confirm participation as space is limited.
