City Manager given a glimpse into the lives of his ancestors.
Wednesday afternoon, Santa Clarita City Manager Ken Pulskamp got a gift from the LDS Church; a written family history.
Brian Sheffield, of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints joined Bonnie Petrovich, Director of the Family History Center in Santa Clarita, in presenting the book to Pulskamp in his office at City Hall.
“Finding out about our genealogy gives us a connection with our ancestors," said Sheffield, who presented the book as a thank you for the job Pulskamp does for Santa Clarita residents.
Petrovich has been working on Pulskamp's genealogy for over 6 months. She researched his family line as far back as seven generations and even managed to find a picture of the ship that his early ancestors traveled on when they came to America. Also in the book are copies of a population census that were signed by his ancestors.

"This is amazing and I can't wait to show this to my family", said Pulskamp, "I'm so grateful for this gift and all the effort that went into doing my research."
Mayor Bob Kellar was on hand for the occasion and also talked about the family research that the LDS Church did for him in 2001. "My research is so fascinating and I have made copies for some of my family members and we have all enjoyed it very much."
The presentation comes just before the Santa Clarita Valley Family History Fair, which will take place on Saturday, January 26th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints at 24443 McBean Parkway in Valencia.
The Keynote speaker for that event will be Carl Boyer and workshops will take place for the rest of the afternoon. For more information on the Family History Fair, contact Shirley Familia at 661-296-7625 or sdfam@sbcglobal.net.
