Now the best friend and playmate of a 3-year-old cat named Buddy, Callie also has a 9-year-old human sister and goes by the name Miss Kittie.
Despite the KHTS Adopt a Pet series’ nearly 80 percent success rate in its first 13 months, 15 featured animals from a variety of different rescues are still waiting for their forever homes.
Odin, a 16-year-old orange tabby from Furever Purr Rescue, and senior father/daughter chihuahua duo Bonnie and Clyde from Shelter Hope Pet Shop Santa Clarita were featured more than six months ago, and are still hoping to be adopted.
Orange tabby Sapporo from Tails and Scales Animal Rescue first took the spotlight at just 6 weeks old, and is the last of her siblings still in need of a home at about five months old.
An 8-year-old chihuahua/corgi mix from the Castaic Animal Shelter named Lilly is also still in foster care after being featured in early August.
By far the most urgent case the KHTS Adopt a Pet series has ever seen is Latte, a 3-year-old pit bull from the Castaic Animal Shelter who is quickly running out of time to find her home.
Despite seeing a record numbers of likes, shares and views on her video and story, Latte still had not been adopted as of Friday afternoon, and is expected to be euthanized if she doesn’t find a home by the end of the weekend, according to several social media posts.
Other KHTS Adopt a Pet animals still in need of homes include 10-year-old schnauzer Prince; 8-year-old tuxedo cat Rosie; 1-year-old terrier Precious; 3-year-old shih tzu Princess; 4-month-old Lynx Point Siamese cat Grace; 10-week-old kittens Archer, Charlie, and Einstein; and 3-year-old pit bull Meatball.
About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series
Every Wednesday, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase more than 40 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen 30 — and counting — adoptions so far. The series was created by Features Director Melissa Lampert, who has more than 10 years of experience in the animal rescue world and co-founded Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary in Santa Clarita in 2016.
