A stunning 5-year-old Siamese named Sugar never fails to make the volunteers at Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary laugh with her goofy facial expressions and endless spunk.

“Sugar is a spunky, sassy, silly girl with a diva personality,” said Melissa Lampert-Abramovitch, co-founder of Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary.
A very independent cat, Sugar usually likes being pet for a few minutes and then just wants to be in your company, purring all the while from wherever she settles down nearby.

“She isn’t the kind of cat that wants a lot of affection, but she would be great for someone who really just wants to have a companion to keep them company,” Lampert-Abramovitch said.
MAPS Animal Rescue saved Sugar from death row last summer at the shelter, where she wound up after her former owners got divorced.
So terrified inside her shelter cage, Sugar couldn’t be handled by shelter staff and was moved into the feral cat room, where she was scheduled to be euthanized.
But when Lampert-Abramovitch approached her kennel, the Siamese looked up and started purring, and the decision was made to look past Sugar’s intense fear and give her a second chance at a happy life.
“Since we first pulled Sugar from the shelter, she has come such a long way,” Lampert-Abramovitch said. “Now she loves to purr, she likes to be pet for a few minutes here and there and she just loves to be in the company of her foster parents.”
One of Sugar’s favorite pastimes is playing with pens, and she has become quite vocal as well, chirping happily in greeting whenever her foster parents enter the room.
She also tends to make silly faces when she’s curious or interested in something new.
While Sugar did come from a home with other cats, Lampert-Abramovitch noted that she would probably do best as the only pet in the home.
“Sugar needs an experienced, adults-only home who will pay attention to her body language and listen and respect what she’s trying to communicate,” Lampert-Abramovitch said.
She continued, “Sugar is such a quirky, unique girl and she’s absolutely beautiful. We would just love for her to have the chance to find her forever home.”

About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series
Every Wednesday, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase more than 100 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen 76 — and counting — adoptions so far. The series was created by Features Director Melissa Lampert, who has more than 10 years of experience in the animal rescue world and co-founded Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary in Santa Clarita in 2016.
