Since coming to Tails and Scales Animal Rescue about six months ago, Tony has learned how to harness his puppy-like energy, and even knows how to give high fives and kisses on command.KHTS Adopt a Pet - Tony

“Tony is a fun loving, happy-go-lucky puppy — he’s fully grown, but he still acts like he’s little,” said Haley Walsh, the rescue’s founder and CEO. “He would love a family to go on hikes with, he would love a family to play fetch with, he loves to snuggle. He’s a real love bug.”

The pup found himself with Tails and Scales Animal Rescue after his former family had to move into an apartment, which Walsh noted just wasn’t the right environment for him.

Tony would do well in a home with other big dogs, and because of his energy level, older children in their teen years.

“The ideal adopters for Tony would be an active family, someone who loves to go hiking, loves to take their dog out on walks and somebody who would continue his dog training,” Walsh said.

She continued, “Tony would really love to find his family before the end of the year, and we’re really hopeful that he will.”

About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series

Every Wednesday, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase more than 40 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen 30 — and counting — adoptions so far. The series was created by Features Director Melissa Lampert, who has more than 10 years of experience in the animal rescue world and co-founded Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary in Santa Clarita in 2016.
