The management and staff of KHTS AM-1220 are extremely active in the Santa Clarita Valley and encouraging the community to go to the polls on Election Day is second nature.
We feel strongly that being involved in the community also means knowing our representatives and providing them with local feedback. Our radio station hosts an annual lobbying trip to Sacramento every year that involves a cross section of more than 70 community leaders.
Co-owners, Jeri Seratti Goldman and Carl Goldman, along with the rest of our staff, serve on a wide variety of local civic and non-profit boards, including the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of commerce, where Carl is Vice President of Government Affairs.
Below is our list of endorsements for several offices. No matter who you select, we encourage you to make your voice heard. Please vote on Tuesday, November 3.
William S. Hart High School Governing Board (three open seats)
Paul Strickland – Incumbent
Joe Messina
Santa Clarita Community College Trustee Office #1
Michael Berger
Santa Clarita Community College Trustee Office #3
Joan MacGregor – Incumbent
Newhall School Board (three open seats)
Phil Ellis
Christy Smith
Newhall Water District (three open seats)
Maria Gutzeit – Incumbent

Elections are also being held for the Saugus and Sulphur Springs School Boards; as all candidates in these races are incumbents running unchallenged, we have made no endorsement.
In the issue of Westside governance, which is only an advisory vote, KHTS has decided to take a neutral position and serve as a conduit to inform the community on the positives and negatives of either choosing cityhood, remaining with the county or incorporation.
