Brandon Gibson, host of the “The Hometown Morning Show” and “Uncorked” on KHTS AM-1220, is both a champion of dogs and television. Naturally, Gibson was elated when Shorty Rossi of Animal Planet’s “Pit Boss” stopped by his morning for an interview.
Animal Planet will air parts of Gibson’s interview with Rossi this Saturday during its newest episode of “Pit Boss.”
In “Pit Boss,” Rossi and his team of little people rescue pit bulls and attempt to find them caring owners. On the show, Rossi also aims to better education the public about the breed, long thought to be violent and averse to humans.

Rossi had one of these pit bulls with him in the studio during his 30-minute interview with Gibson.
“We talked about all the positive aspects of pit bulls that most people wouldn’t know about,” said Gibson. “We also discussed (Rossi’s) background and how people can get involved with this cause.”
Rossi’s background is a colorful one: When he was 18 years old, he was involved in a gang-related shooting. Subsequently convicted of several felonies, Rossi spent nearly 11 years at Folsom State Prison. During that time, Rossi re-evaluated his goals and, upon release, found a lucrative career in show business.
As time went on, Rossi decided to give back to the animals that had been such a vital part to his survival. He founded Shorty’s Pit Bull Rescue in 2001, dedicated to finding owners for the animals or placing them in shelters.
Animal Planet soon caught wind of his efforts, and “Pit Boss” was born. Now in its second season, the show is fan-favorite.
“This episode of ‘Pit Boss’ will air bits and pieces from my morning show,” said Gibson. “We took calls and talked about the pit bull he had with him – anything the network decided to air will be interesting.”
Gibson’s appearance on “Pit Boss” can be seen on Animal Planet this Saturday at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST.
