KHTS Sportscaster Tony Moskal, who can be heard with Dave Caldwell broadcasting live High School football on AM 1220, was given honorable mention as one of the top sportscasters in Los Angeles. It was printed in today’s Tom Hoffarth column in the Daily News.
His color commentary is a big hit with listeners, and he’s been with KHTS for two years. He also serves as a teacher at Golden Valley High School and head golf coach.
Tony said that while he loved his 8 years of football coaching, it’s nice to sit back and really get to watch the game now.
Surprisingly there isn’t any one team that he favors over another…not even the State Champs! Instead, he watches individuals.
“To see kid’s with this kind of talent, we just get to sit back and enjoy,” he said.
It’s his love for the game and his eagerness to learn that brought him into broadcasting.
“My wife has worked for Fox for almost 20 years, and I used to go to a lot of games and sit near the press box. And I’d just listen to see what they were doing, and learn what they talked about,” said Moskal.
That has obviously served him well, and he will be back again next year on AM 1220 for the 2007 season of High School football.
