Kings Clinch Stanley Cup Playoff Slot

sportskingsThe Los Angeles Kings have officially qualified for the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs.  The Kings earned their second consecutive postseason berth tonight after defeating the Phoenix Coyotes, 3-2, in a shootout in front of a sellout crowd at Staples Center .

 

The schedule for the first round of the playoffs for the Kings – currently 46-28-6 (98 points) – will be announced by the National Hockey League once it becomes finalized.  The Kings will announce their postseason TV and Radio broadcast schedules once they are finalized. Make sure to listen to all the Kings action at your hometown station, KHTS AM1220.

The 46 wins tie a Kings franchise record, marking the third time Los Angeles has reached the 46 win plateau.

The Kings’ schedule for the remainder of the regular season is as follows:

April 8 – 10 a.m. skate at Toyota Sports Center/game at Anaheim (7 p.m.)

April 9 – 10 a.m. skate at Toyota Sports Center/7:30 p.m. game v. Anaheim at home

Wednesday night’s sellout was the 34th of the season (a team record at Staples Center ) and the 17th consecutive full house.
