Kings Sign Center Michael Cammarlleri to One-Year Contract

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have re-signed restricted free agent center Michael Cammalleri to a one-year contact, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.  Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.

Cammalleri, 24, led the Kings this past season in goals with 26, was fourth in team scoring with 55 points and fifth in assists with 29 (all career highs) while playing in 80 games, which was tied for second on the team.  Cammalleri also recorded a team high 15 power-play goals, four game-winning goals, which was tied for second on the club, and he led the team with 206 shots while playing in his first full NHL season.

A 5-9, 185-pound native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Cammalleri was originally selected by the Kings in the second-round (49th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.  He made his NHL debut with the Kings during the 2002-03 season, and in three seasons with the Kings he has 78 points (40-38=78) and 92 penalty minutes in 139 regular season games.

This past spring, Cammalleri also represented his native Canada at the 2006 World Championship in Latvia, recording five points (1-4=5) in eight games.
