Knott’s Berry Farm To Host Texaco Country Showdown State Finals

Knott’s Berry Farm will be hosting the California State Final of the 32nd Annual Texaco Country Showdown. The Texaco Country Showdown is America’s largest country music talent search. The State Final will take place on Saturday, August 17 at 7 P.M. in the Wagon Camp at the park.

Suzanne Harper will be representing KHTS AM-1220 from Santa Clarita. She recently competed at the local finals of competition at Concerts in the Park.

Last year’s winner, Poor Man’s Poison, from Santa Clarita advanced to the National Final in Nashville Tenn. At the historic Ryman Auditorium, the band took home $100,000 and the title “Best New Act in Country Music.” Starting in Santa Clarita before their rise to fame, they played back on one of their first stages at Concerts in the Park this summer.

Knott’s Berry Farm not only hosts the California State Final of the Texaco Country Showdown but offers coasters, boysenberry pies, and family fun.

The park has over 165 rides, shows, and attractions in four themed areas. The family can enjoy three new family rides in the Boardwalk area. Those seeking high-thrill rollercoasters can ride the Silver Bullet or Xcelerator. There are family thrill rides now, the new rides include Coast Rider, Surfside Gliders, and the Pacific Scrambler all in the Boardwalk area. Take a walk through Park’s Old West Ghost Town or hang with Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. Visit Camp Snoopy for more entertainment.

Not only does Knott’s offer lots of entertainment, but also many places to eat. The restaurant list is extensive but includes the famous Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant, Sutter’s Fine Family Fare, Funnel Cake Kitchen, and the Grizzly Creek Lodge.

Knott’s now has more shows and musical entertainment. “Hooray for Hollywood” tells the story of the PEANUTS Gang trying to make it big in Tinseltown. There will be live musical entertainment with performances by Dancin’ to the Beat, Big Fat Steve Band, and the Ghost Town Miners.
