The City of Santa Clarita has announced that it’s newly redesigned Permit Center at City Hall will soon include a representative from the Los Angeles County Fire Department to handle Fuel Modifications.
The representative will be on hand Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to assist customers with Fuel Modification permit needs.
“Residents and businesses require Fuel Modification plans when building a new house or large addition in an area that is vulnerable to brush fires,” said Ruben Barrera, city building official. “A Fuel Modification plan helps to ensure that a site’s proposed landscaping does not create adverse fire conditions or have the potential to ‘fuel’ a brush fire.”
When the Los Angeles County Fire representative joins the City’s Permit Center community members and local businesses will be able to submit Fuel Modification plans easier than ever before.
By including a Fire Department representative at City Hall, Permit Center customers will no longer need to make the previously required trip to the Fire Department’s Azusa office for Fuel Modification needs.
The Permit Center is located on the first floor of City Hall in Suite 140, and is designed to save residents and businesses time while improving communication between City departments.
The new Permit Center includes City Planning, Engineering, Building & Safety, and Traffic in one location.
