The recent immigration law passed by Arizona has sparked a flurry of boycotts from cities around the country.
The City of Los Angeles’ boycott of Arizona could compromise the power that is provided by Arizona companies to the City of Los Angeles. Nearly 25% of all power provided to the City of Los Angeles comes from Arizona.
“Power comes from everywhere,” said the spokesman for Southern California Edison, Steve Conroy. “We have separate contracts with the State of Arizona”
In Santa Clarita, power is provided by Southern California Edison, and not from the City of Los Angeles’ Department of Water and Power. Any potential power shut off from Arizona would likely not have any effect on power provided here in Santa Clarita.
Southern California Edison does receive power from Arizona including sources from around the country.
Since the immigration law was passed in Arizona, Santa Clarita’s City Council has not weighed in on the matter.
