A Lake Los Angeles woman is in custody and her two children in the care of the county’s Department of Children’s Services after a traffic stop Monday afternoon.
Beatriz Flores, 31, had her two children, ages 14 and 11, in the car when she was stopped at 5:45 p.m. at Golden Valley Road and Robert C. Lee Parkway.
A search revealed that the 14-year-old boy had six bags of heroin concealed in the groin area of his pants. Flores admitted that she had him put the drugs in his pants to conceal it.

She told deputies that she was a single mother with four children who was transporting the drugs this one time to pay the rent, but they found evidence that she had been selling drugs.
Flores was arrested on suspicion of possession of heroin for sales, transporting heroin, child endangerment, and inducing a minor to transport heroin. She and the two children were taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, where, during booking, methamphetamine was also found hidden in her clothing.
She was additionally charged on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine for sales, transportation of methamphetamine, and bringing drugs into a jail.
Her two children were released to the Los Angeles County Department of Children’s Services for protection. An additional investigation into the welfare of the other two children will be conducted. Flores is being held in the Santa Clarita Valley Station jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
