Lane Closures Continue For I-5, 126 Interchange

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and State Route 126 as part of a $24-million project to improve the I-5/126 Interchange, from Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, July 8: INTERSTATE 5:

·     Daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
–     One lane of southbound I-5 from Hasley Canyon Road to Rye Canyon Road
–     One lane of northbound I-5 from Rye Canyon Road to Hasley Canyon Road

·     From 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 to 1 a.m. Wednesday, July 6:
–     One to three lanes of northbound I-5 from Magic Mountain Parkway to Hasley Canyon Road

·     From 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 6:
–     ALL LANES of northbound I-5 from Magic Mountain Parkway to Hasley
Canyon Road

·     From 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 to 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 6:
–     The eastbound State Route 126 connector to northbound I-5

·     11:59 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, July 6:
   –  The northbound I-5 connector to Westbound State Route 126
     
·     From 7 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 6:
–     One to three lanes of southbound I-5 from Hasley Canyon Road to Magic
Mountain Parkway

·     From 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 7:
–     ALL LANES of southbound I-5 from Hasley Canyon Road to Rye Canyon Road

·     From 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 to 6 a.m. Thursday, July 7:
–     The Hasley Canyon Road on-ramp to southbound I-5

·     From 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 to 6 a.m. Thursday, July 7:
   –  The eastbound State Route 126 connector to southbound I-5

STATE ROUTE 126:

·     Daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

   –  One lane of eastbound State Route 126 from Castaic Junction to I-5
–     One lane of westbound State Route 126 from I-5 to Castaic Junction
–     The eastbound State Route 126 connector to southbound I-5
–     The eastbound State Route 126 connector to northbound I-5

·     Nightly Monday, June 27 through Thursday, June 29 from 7 p.m. to 5a.m.:

–     The northbound I-5 connector to westbound State Route 126
–     ALL LANES (2) of eastbound State Route 126 from Castaic Junction to I-5

Closures are weather permitting and subject to change.  Signs and detours will be posted to assist motorists.  Caltrans reminds motorists that traffic fines are doubled in freeway work zones, and to please SLOW FOR THE CONE ZONE.       # # #

Sylmar/North San Fernando Valley – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes, ramps and connectors of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or carpool lanes on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14:

NIGHTLY TUESDAY, JULY 5 THROUGH THURSDAY, JULY 7:

·     8 p.m. until 8 a.m. – up to two lanes of northbound I-5 from SR-118 to I-210
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – northbound I-5 on-ramp at Paxton Street
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – northbound I-5 off-ramp at Brand Boulevard
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – northbound I-5 off-ramp at San Fernando Mission Boulevard
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – northbound I-5 on-ramp at Laurel Canyon Boulevard
·     6 p.m. until 5 a.m. – northbound I-5 truck bypass lane
·     7 p.m. until 5 a.m. – up to two lanes of southbound I-5 from Roxford Street to
      SR-118 junction
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – southbound I-5 connector to I-405 truck bypass
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – southbound I-5 off-ramp at San Fernando Mission Boulevard
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – southbound I-5 on-ramps at east- and westbound San Fernando
Mission Boulevard
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – southbound I-5 on-ramp at Brand Boulevard
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – southbound I-5 on-ramp at Brand Boulevard
·     6 p.m. until 7 a.m. – southbound I-5 off-ramp at Paxton Street
·     7 p.m. until 6 a.m. – southbound I-5 connector to eastbound State Route 118
