Lane Closures Continue On SCV Freeways

Santa Clarita – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) MAY close the following lanes of  the Golden State Freeway (I-5) and State Route 126 – intermittently — as part of the FINAL STAGES of a $24-million project to improve the I-5/126 Interchange:

INTERSTATE 5:

Daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, August 29 through Thursday, September 1: One lane of northbound and/or southbound I-5 from Rye Canyon Road to Hasley Canyon Road

Nightly from 7 pm. to 5 a.m. Monday, August 29 through Wednesday, August 31:  The northbound and/or southbound I-5 connectors to westbound State Route 126

STATE ROUTE 126:

Daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, August 29 through Thursday, September 1:
-     The eastbound State Route 126 connector to northbound I-5
-     The eastbound State Route 126 connector to southbound I-5
-     One or both lanes of westbound and/or eastbound State Route 126 from I-5 to Castaic Junction

Nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, August 29 through Thursday, September 1:
-     The eastbound State Route 126 connector to northbound I-5
-     The eastbound State Route 126 connector to southbound I-5
-     One or both lanes of westbound and/or eastbound State Route 126 from I-5 to Castaic Junction

Note:  Not all closures may be necessary, as the final stages of construction are under way.  Closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

              LANE CLOSURES FOR I-5 CARPOOL LANE CONSTRUCTION
                   NEAR SYLMAR, AUGUST 29 – SEPTEMBER 2

Sylmar/North San Fernando Valley – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes, ramps and connectors of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) as part of a $41.6-million project to construct High Occupancy Vehicle, (HOV), or carpool lanes, on northbound and southbound I-5 from State Route 118 to State Route 14:

DAILY FROM 9 A.M. TO 3 P.M. FROM MONDAY, AUGUST 29 THROUGH THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1:

·     The northbound I-5 off-ramp to eastbound San Fernando Mission Boulevard

OVERNIGHT MONDAY, AUGUST 29 TO TUESDAY, AUGUST 30:

·     6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to two lanes of southbound I-5 from San Fernando Mission Blvd. to Brand Blvd.
·     6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The southbound I-5 off-ramp to Paxton Street
·     6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The southbound auxiliary lane from Brand Blvd. to State Route 118
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The southbound I-5 connector to southbound I-405 truck bypass
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The southbound I-5 off-ramp to San Fernando Mission Blvd.
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The westbound San Fernando Mission Blvd. on-ramp to southbound I-5
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The southbound I-5 connector to eastbound State Route 118
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The eastbound San Fernando Mission Blvd. on-ramp to southbound I-5
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The Brand Blvd. on-ramp to southbound I-5
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The northbound I-5 connector to eastbound State Route 210
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The westbound State Route 210 connector to northbound I-5
·     8 p.m. to 5 a .m. – Up to two lanes of southbound I-5 from I-405 to San Fernando Mission Blvd.
·     8 p.m. to 6 a.m. – Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 from Roxford Street to junction of eastbound State Route 210
·     8 p.m. to 8 a.m. – Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 from Balboa Boulevard to State Route 14
·     9 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The Roxford Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 ·     10 p.m. to 6 a.m. – Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 from junction of eastbound State Route 210 to Balboa Boulevard
·     11 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to two lanes of northbound I-5 from State Route 14 at I-5 truck route

OVERNIGHT TUESDAY, AUGUST 30 TO WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 31:

·     6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to two lanes of southbound I-5 from San Fernando Mission Boulevard to Brand Boulevard
·     6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The southbound auxiliary lane from Brand Boulevard to State Route 118
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The southbound I-5 connector to southbound I-405 truck bypass
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The southbound I-5 off-ramp to San Fernando Mission Blvd.
·     7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – The eastbound and westbound on-ramps to southbound I-5
·     8 p.m. to 6 am. – Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 from Roxford Street to junction of eastbound State Route 210
·     10 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to two lanes of southbound I-5 from I-405 to San Fernando Mission Boulevard
·     10 p.m. to 6 a.m. – Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 from junction of eastbound State Route 210 to Balboa Boulevard
·     10 p.m. to 8 a.m. – Up to three lanes of northbound I-5 from Balboa Boulevard to State Route 14


OVERNIGHT THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 TO FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2:

·     6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to two lanes of southbound I-5 from San Fernando Mission Blvd. to Brand Blvd.
·     6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The Southbound I-5 off-ramp to Paxton Street
·     6 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The southbound auxiliary lane from Brand Blvd. to State Route 118
·     7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The southbound I-5 connector to southbound I-405 truck bypass
·     7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The southbound I-5 off-ramp to San Fernando Mission Blvd.
·     7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The eastbound and westbound San Fernando Mission Blvd. on-ramps to southbound I-5
·     7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The southbound I-5 connector to eastbound State Route 118
·     7 p.m. to 5 a.m. – The Brand Blvd. on-ramp to southbound I-5
·     8 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to two lanes of southbound I-5 from I-405 to San Fernando Mission Blvd.
·     8 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to two lanes of northbound I-5 from Balboa Blvd. to State Route 14
·     11 p.m. to 5 a.m. – Up to two lanes of northbound I-5 at State Route 14


      Closures weather permitting and subject to change.  Signs and detours will be posted to assist motorists.  Caltrans reminds motorists that traffic fines are doubled in freeway work zones, and to please SLOW FOR THE CONE ZONE.
