Jim Breuer is well known to comedy fans for a number of memorable comedic characters as a cast member of “Saturday Night Live” and in films like “Half Baked,” but he is also a humanitarian.
Santa Clarita resident Judi Marmel, producer and manager of Jeff Dunham, Jim Breuer, told Breuer of the Santa Clarita Shelter and how it needed his help to raise funds.
The principal activity of the Santa Clarita Community Development Corporation is the operation of its Santa Clarita Emergency Winter Shelter EWS.
The EWS assists people with the help they need to improve their individual or family circumstances, and with winter coming, their need for help increases.
Breuer will be the headlining performance, but other celebrities have also pitched in including Cher, Carlos Santana and John Muir.
There will be a silent auction for VIP Vegas Concert Experiences, which includes a stay at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, gift certificates to dine at famous restaurants in on top of other gifts.
In addition to his comedic roles, Breuer has also made a film about his father, “More Than Me.”
“His whole life, he said, I want you to have more than me,” Breuer recalls. “[The movie] deals with knowing that my Dad doesn’t have much time left, and rather than sticking him in a home, I take care of him. The film walks you through the whole process, and how not to fear it, how it’s a natural part of life, and keep their dignity along with yours.” He recently screened it as a work-in-progress for annual Aging Services of California Conference and Exposition.
