Caltrans is completing falsework in preparation for construction of the new overpass at Laval Road/Wheeler Ridge and will be closing the southbound I-5 freeway at that location. The south- and northbound Laval Road loop ramps Exit 219A and 219B will be closed as well.
[view:node_ad=5]The closures will be in effect from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday, April 13 to Tuesday, April 14.
The north- and southbound number 1 (fast) lane will be closed from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. from Monday, April 13 through Friday, April 17, weather permitting.
DETOUR: Traffic will be reduced from three lanes to one lane at the northbound Wheeler Ridge interchange (Exit 219B) where flaggers will redirect traffic back onto Interstate 5 at Laval Road.
Griffith Construction Company began the $6.3 million project in September 2008 and anticipates completion by late summer 2009. The project will result in a new bridge at the Interstate 5 Wheeler Ridge Road Interchange, modify the existing northbound and westbound Laval Road off-ramps and signalize the intersection at Laval Road East at Wheeler Ridge Road.
