Lend A Helping Hand With Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

khts_givingbackWith spring quickly approaching, it’s time to shake off those winter blues and get active in our community. These upcoming volunteer opportunities are sure to get you out of that cold weather state of mind and give a helping hand to local events.

The 2011 Bruin Wave Women’s Golf Invitational is seeking volunteers to help them host their national collegiate tournament in Santa Clarita from February 28 through March 2. Adults who volunteer will help with score keeping, shuttle driving, and spotting. If interested, contact Saki Uechi at suechi@pepperdine.edu or call (818) 984- 9975.

The Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Department Vital Intervention Directional Alternatives Program is looking for volunteers to help with data entry. Volunteers will be able to help on Monday’s and Tuesday’s for two and a half hours a day. Those interested are asked to contact Deputy Tim Ferrone at (661) 510-0881 or tmferron@lasd.org.

Youth, teens, and adults are invited to volunteer and assist with the set-up, handouts, tree planting, clean up, and more for this years Earth/Arbor Day celebration on April 16. Those interested must sign up through www.VolunteerInSCV.org and must attend an informational meeting. Dates and times are to be determined.

The annual Cowboy Festival is set for April 25 through May 1 and those hosting the event are seeking volunteers to help them pull off the week of wild west activities. Teens and adults are invited to volunteer and assist with registration, information, ushering, food court, merchandise, parcel check, shuttle host, and more. Teens 12 to 15 must attend the Volunteer Round-Up on April 20 at 6:00 p.m. Those 16 years of age and up must attend the informational meeting on March 21 at 7:00 p.m.  The Volunteer Round-Up is located at the Activities Center at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex.  Volunteers must sign up through www.VolunteerInScv.org.
