Using the Career Assessment test and Career Match search engine, job seekers can explore employment paths based on previous work experience and personal interests.  The program even provides detailed information about each career option, including salary, number of professionals in the field, tenure, and job descriptions. Job seekers can also practice interviewing skills and receive constructive feedback through a virtual Interview Simulator.

Job seekers must have a free library membership card to access Career Transitions from a public or personal computer.

The Learning Xpress is an online library designed to enhance the job seeking experience.  Through the Job Search and Workplace Skills Learning Center, job seekers can take eCourses and access eBooks on work productivity, job success, networking, and business writing, in addition to other subjects.

Job seekers can also use a variety of practice tests to prepare for professional certification and licensing in fields ranging from Civil Service to Firefighting to Real Estate.  Anyone with an email address can register for free use of this program via the Santa Clarita Public Library website.

In addition to these two helpful programs, users can also browse a list of recommended books on popular career fields and other valuable titles to help with resume and cover letter building.

The Santa Clarita Library is one of several valuable resources in the community dedicated to helping residents get back to work.  Other resources include the Santa Clarita WorkSource Center (WorkSantaClarita.com), located at College of the Canyons’ University Center, as well as the College of the Canyons’ Career Center (canyons.edu/careercenter.com).
