A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge sentenced a Little Rock man to 15 years to life in state prison on Friday for the attack and killing of a Palmdale woman who was mauled by a pack of the defendant’s pit bulls, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Alex Donald Jackson was found guilty on Aug. 29 of second-degree murder, cultivating marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and possession of a controlled substance for sale, psilocybin.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lisa Chung imposed the sentence but delayed his transfer to state prison until Oct. 17 so Jackson can appear at a restitution hearing in Department A19 of the Antelope Valley Branch.

The attack:

Pamela Devitt, 63, was out for a walk on May 9, 2013 when she was attacked and killed by four pit bulls belonging to Jackson, according to court testimony.

Evidence presented at trial also showed that other victims had been attacked by his pit bulls on several prior occasions.

Jackson had a marijuana growing operation at his residence and a total of eight dogs were seized from his house, prosecutors said.

Four of the dogs had Devitt’s DNA on their fur, prosecutors added.

Deputy District Attorneys Carolyn Yeh and Ryan Williams prosecuted Jackson.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Homicide Bureau and Palmdale Station.

  1. No matter what you identify them as or what you choose to call them if any dog has pit bull genetics in it then the outcome of said genetics are always the same, death, mauling’s, crippled and disfigured victims when their DNA is expressed into reality which it invariably will be the case.

So you can call them something else to protect them but they are still pit mixes who are what they are and do what they do, who as a result have no right to ever come into human contact.

Pit bull or Pit bull cross, same difference same outcome same reality as to what they are.

And all Pit bulls or restricted dogs including pit bull crosses by law should have leashes and Muzzles which they never have and all to often you seem them running around as such unmuzzled, this is an even greater problem then them being unleashed and that is bad enough

Certain breeds like Pit bulls etc.are fundamentally evil in nature and action and do not deserve the freedom of action to carry out their DNA.

The point is, other dogs bite, Pit bulls and Pit bull crosses and others like mastiffs, Rotts etc. attack and kill and maim, that is the big difference in the outcome and should result in a completely different attitude towards these dogs and why they should be banned outright. The stats are very clear and accurate and show this reality even if you want to put your head in the sand, it still is what it is.

2/3 of the fatalities by pit bull type dogs in 2013 were the actual family members of the pit bull who had been raised from a pup in optimal conditions, these are facts that are documented.

  2. I’m so happy to see people are getting jail time for the attacks by these dogs

  3. Read any pit bull book. Not one gives advice on training a good pit to mature to suddenly attack, immediately do damage, and then not stop even if the other totally submits.

They do give dog fight rules, such as the dog doesn’t need to continue attacking a dead dog to be declared the winner, but no “train ’em to mature to enjoy attacking” advice. They simply say “don’t start your pits till they mature at 18-24 months.” Then you just let them fight.

No training is needed because sociopathic pitmen created pits to attack on instinct. Not all pits mature to become good pits as these pits did, but because pits were also specifically bred to not waste time or energy giving warning, you don’t know it’s happening until it does.

Pit owners fall under two classifications Responsible=lucky so far
    Irresponsible =suddenly unlucky.
