Some things can only be appreciated when you look.

Take a look at the natural side of things "With Eyes Wide Open," an Artist's Reception honoring the work of local artist/photographer Sandy Fisher.

The event will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, December 13 at the Canyon Theatre Guild in Old Town Newhall, and will showcase a collection of Fisher's artistic photography.

The reception will be a preview of Fisher's art that will be adorning the hallway of the Canyon Theatre Guild for the duration of their Christmas play, "It's a Wonderful Life".

"The event is available to me as a member of the Santa Clarita Artists' Association, as each member gets a chance to showcase their work," Fisher said.

Also the current President of the Santa Clarita Artists' Association, Fisher is thankful for the opportunity to showcase her collection of artistic photography featuring "the natural beauty of the world."

Close-ups and landscape photographs with a high level of contrasts and unusual perspectives are what defines Fisher's photography. Each picture is printed on fine art paper, a different type of paper that absorbs the ink in such a way that it makes the viewer believe they are actually looking at a painting.

Because of a second run-in with cancer, Fisher, self-employed for 14 years, decided to pursue her love of art and quit her day job. "I think that it made me decide to pursue what really made me happy," Fisher said.

As a result, the photography that will be on display demonstrates how cancer affected the way she looks at everything.
