Hart High grad celebrates first published novel.
Ever since she was 12 years old, local author Katherine Jeffries has been developing her passion and talent for writing both poetry and fiction pieces. After graduating from Hart High in 1997, Jeffries was off to BYU in Provo Utah to get her degree in English. Since then, she has come back to Santa Clarita and has continued to write fictional stories.
Even though Jeffries had previously written a fanfiction titled An Angel’s Hell while at BYU, this is the first book she has published. She says she specializes in theological horror stories on the topic of suffering and its purpose.
In her book, Darkness Comprehended, the recently widowed Estelle, the novel’s protoganist, receives a visit from a stranger who tells her that there was a mistake on the night her husband was killed; Estelle was the one who was destined to die. Her spousal love is put to the ultimate test, and Estelle must go to Hell and to Earth again if she wants her husband back.
Jeffries will be attending a book signing this Saturday, June 14th, at Barnes and Noble (on Valencia Blvd.) and encourages all residents to come out and support her work.
